What is this sun that conquers mountain
Singing over what has been asleep?
What is it that softens all my doubting?
It's You

Morning brings a hunger for new eyes
That have been covered by the hurt of yesterday
Who could create in me the vision of a little child?
It's You

You take an ordinary day
And turn it into flowers like the month of May
Yes you do
You see all my pain
You cry over it for hours till I'm new again
Yes you do

When I have been a victim of familiarity
When my heart has fallen into sleep
Healing is the voice that awakens me
And it is You

You take an ordinary day
And turn it into flowers like the month of May
Yes You do
You see all my pain
You cry over it for hours till I'm new again
Yes You do

You, You make me new...

It seemed as if Heaven had silently kissed the earth,

So that, amid gleaming blossoms, it could dream of nothing else.

A breeze passed over the field, stirring the stalks of grain,

the forest rustled lightly, the starry night was clear.

And my soul spread wide it's wings and flew over the quite land,

as if it were flying toward home

Flying High

Uni's back!! After a few hiccups with my course, I'm finally happy with how it's all worked out! I even have the rare commodity called extra time!! Oooh! The possibilities are endless!! :-)

Hmm… I’m sitting here in my room and there’s a fly that keeps buzzing around me in circles… I think I may need to bath… :-) He he, having said that he’s just disappeared!

That actually reminds me of an experience I had the other day, well, a few months ago, but still… I was lying in bed and there was this fly that kept buzzing into the walls. So I decided I’d try rescue it (and save my self from two hours of lying in bed thinking how much I dislike the buzzing sound!) But it was impossible! Objects went flying around my room as I attempted to get the fly moving so it would land in a place I could reach it or shoo it out the door. I got so frustrated! So I got to thinking and realised that so often I try to do things, like save people my self, or change circumstances, or shape others in to what I think is right. I retired from my fly catching expedition and started praying, giving it all over to God. When I finally lay my head on my pillow, that silly fly started buzzing again, but this time, he landed right near my bead in a reachable spot… At first I thought - “this is a trick!, as I get up he‘ll fly away!” - but I slowly sat up and cupping the fly in my hands, took him out side to freedom! Take what you like from my fly incident… I learnt a lot from it! :-)

(that fly from before just came back and is circling my head again… it feels as though I‘m in some sort of “force field!” - No, I smell okay.. Maybe I should try cleaning my room…?)

Another awesome week in the life of a sailboat! :-)

(courtesy of Mark from Holy Trinity - he compared our lives as one of three boats - a raft, just drifting - a rowboat, powered by human strength - or a sailboat, where we hoist the sails and God does the rest! Well, I’ve been trying to start letting go of the paddles and hoisting up my sails… :-) )

The past few days I’ve been helping facilitate on a ropes course run by a Christian organisation. The groups have been really interesting, each so different with their own special ways of adding to the energy. It’s funny, we had a really tough group the other day and I was asked by one of their leaders if this was the worst group we’d had! Thinking back, yes they were really challenging, but I think they’d have to be my favourite group! Seeing these people, that had obviously had it tough, achieving so much was so rewarding! I can’t really explain it in words, but it was just awesome! :-) I love working with those guys!

It’s actually quite funny that I’ve landed up helping on these ropes courses! I used to really dislike ropes courses, actually anything “out-doorsy“! I remember crying my way out of doing the higher ropes stuff on a camp in high school! And here I am out in the bush harnessed up and belaying kids 6 meters up in the air on a log and encouraging them to face the same fears that I had! It’s awesome! And the best thing is that all this stuff is teaching those the participants so much more than they bargained for! Learning to trust yourself and those around you, to not give up no matter how difficult it first appears, to work together to get through challenging things, all of this from a few strategically placed wires and trees! :-)

Well, I have just come back from my awesome mission trip! Okay, it wasn’t going to Africa and feeding the poor - but for me it was still a huge opportunity to exercise being a first world missionary! It was a hard, exhausting, challenging, extremely AWESOME three weeks and I know that God touched so many lives through the work that He gave me and the other supervisors! I learnt so much about patients and about serving others - even when I was tried, grumpy, sore and irritated - I was there to show these kids God’s love.

I also learnt the importance of having a strong support in my life. My amazing friend Laura came down from South Africa (in an intricate, amazing set of events that only God could plan!) and she was there when I really needed support! We laughed together, cried together, prayed together, sang together, served together - it felt so perfect! And boy was it hard to leave her! But is was a blessing to be able to spend even just a short time together, and we know that God was able to refresh us both through each other so that we could go on our separate ways and continue changing the world for Him! All my pics are on Ringo if you’re interested!

I hope your new year has been awesome so far!!!

I spent a little too much money today... I've been doing that a lot lately... I blame Koorong! (My favourite shop) (Yes, I know, I can't blame a shop... I take it back!) :-) But today was one of my best buys there - two AWESOME CD's!!! "The Best of ApologetiX" and Jimmy Needham's "Speak"!! I highly recommend both of them!

ApologetiX are a Christian alternative to Weird Al - Biblical parodies of main steam hits. He he, it's so funny! Like Bethlehem Rhapsody (Bohemian Rhapsody), JC's Mom (Stacy's Mom) Meshach (Love Shack) Aah, the list goes on! It's sooo fun!! :-) http://www.apologetix.com)

Jimmy Needham is a smooth, jazzy 20 year old Texan, most of the songs on his album are scripture based and it's just so groovey and easy to listen to! He sounds a little like Jamie Cullum... Ah, and sorry girls, he's married (I've already checked...) :-) (http://www.jimmyneedham.com)

It's actually quite awesome to stop and listen to the words of songs. My beautiful friend bought me "Be Thou My Vision" for Christmas, it's a devotional book based on contemporary Christian music. It really makes you focus on what's being said and use it to inspire your day! And it does!

Right, now that I've done my product promo, I'm off to listen to more! He he, yes, it's quite sad how excited I get about this stuff! :-)
